Margrit Drescher (Bunge)
HMB: 1983 - 1987.
After struggling to figure out what I wanted to do with my life for a couple of years, I finally discovered, while working at the Department of Health, that I love developing software. I have since completed various IT-degrees at Pretoria Tech and Tukkies. I have also been developing practice management software for the southern african medical market at a small private software house since 1993.
On my way home from the 1997 class reunion I was in a car accident. The accident had a wonderful spin-off for me and my (then) platonic buddy, Karsten, who I had known for years. We suddenly realised that life can end at any moment, and that we wanted to spend the rest of it together. We got married in 1999.
Karsten is an engineering geologist. He runs a small consultancy from home and works mainly on exploration and environmental projects.
We recently bought a sprawling old house in Murrayfield, Pretoria where we live with my in-laws (they live in the granny flat), two dogs, a budgie and a cat. In our spare time Karsten and I play trombone and trumpet in our local church brass-band. We both enjoy cooking and attend Walk For Life several times a week to try and get rid of the kilojoules! I am also an enthusiastic crafter and conspiracy theory addict.
